Exiting FCC Chairman, Michael Powell spoke yesterday at the Silicon Flatirons Telecommunications program and according to this article in the Rocky Mountain News, he had some interesting things to say about the future of technology. Some of his thoughts-
- Technology is "ripping up the customary way that we do things"
- TiVo, X-Box and i-pod's are becoming central to the culture of the next generation, and cell phones have become the Swiss Army knife of the communications industry.
- Pay attention to the first digital generation because there is a five year window before those 15 year-olds become 20-year-olds and then"nothing will be the same"
- Powell said young people strive to connect with each other and the community as they always have, but now they are using technological devices.
I believe that we are in the middle of a revolutionary change in the way that information and ideas are shared and in the way that products and services are marketed, sold and consumed, and technology is the spark and conduit.
Michael
